About El Zafiro 

We are really proud of our nearly decade long relationship with good friends Oscar Aparicio & Nancy Maca.  El Zafiro is a lost diamond in Cauca region. The farm produces an exotic and rare varietal called Wush Wush. It’s a sought after coffee not least of all because its cup has a habit of stunning even the most experienced coffee cuppers in the speciality scene.

The farm, a literal paradise located very close to Popayán city in the south-west Colombia’s Cauca region sits at an altitude of around 2000 MASL. Nancy Maca, along with her husband Oscar, and her father Ceferino have been producing  outstanding coffees for over 90 years. The farm has won several awards for the excellence of their coffee.

The Maca family is actually an indigenous family native to this land. They have maintained this farm for generations as part of their family heritage. Here, they grow mostly Castillo variety, but also, exotic coffees, including Geisha, Wush Wush, Typica and Bourbon varietals. The farm has rich volcanic soils and is located along a small river which gives this land a particular microclimate and a very unique terroir. Their coffee is now catalogued worldwide by connoisseurs as one of the coffees with most potential in the specialty coffee market..
