About Sítio Canaã
Agriculture of Life
Coffee farming in 1979 Serra dos Ciganos? All quantity, no quality. Chemicals ruled, leaving parched land and a shaky future. João Hamilton remembers: "Nothing worked. We were poisoning the mountains."
Hope arrived in 2004 with Marcos and Felipe from FAF, preaching "Life Agriculture." Together, they transformed João's farm. He learned to "nurture the soil, respect the water, and thank the land." Springs revived, trees returned, and coffee diversity flourished. Selective harvests, sun-drying, and meticulous processing resulted in exceptional coffee – a testament to their shared dream of mountain sustainability.
"Life Agriculture" wasn't just for beans. It fostered a vibrant community in Serra dos Ciganos. Today, João's farm is the Serra do Cigano Washing Station, a hub for 40 like-minded producers. They share knowledge, laughter, and the sweet aroma of a future nurtured with care.
FAFCoffees and João Hamilton proudly walk this path together, a partnership built on collaboration and unwavering belief. The journey continues. New projects whisper promises of a future where every cup tells a story: mountains restored, communities thriving, a legacy born from "Life Agriculture."
