About Giakanja AB
The Giakanja Farmers Cooperative cultivates exceptional coffee beans in the fertile volcanic soil of Nyeri, Kenya. Their small farms, averaging 250-350 SL28 and SL34 trees, benefit from the region's high altitude and two annual harvests. Collaborating with Sucafina Kenya, farmers are implementing sustainable practices like precision agriculture to enhance tree health and cherry quality, reducing reliance on fertilizers while increasing yields.
The cooperative's dedication to quality extends to the processing stage. Handpicked ripe cherries are meticulously sorted at the Giakanja washing station, ensuring only the finest beans are selected. The cherries undergo pulping, fermentation, and a careful drying process on raised beds, with workers diligently raking and covering the beans to maintain optimal conditions. This meticulous attention to detail results in the exceptional AB lot, a true representation of the region's unique terroir.
